The management of the geopark is the responsibility of the Council of the Province of Cáceres, historically so called “Diputación de Cáceres”. The management is executed in close relationship with all the institutions participating in the Co-Operation Agreement for the Management of Villuercas-Ibores-Jara UNESCO Global Geopark.

The institutions that participate in the management of the geopark are:

  • Diputación de Cáceres.
  • Govenment of Extremadura.
    • General Directorate of Environment.
    • General Directorate of Tourism.
    • General Secretariat of Rural Development
    • General Secretariat of Education.
    • General Directorate of Cultural Heritage.
    • General Secretary of Employment.
  • University of Extremadura.
  • Commonwealth of municipalities of Villuercas – Ibores – Jara.
  • Local Action Group APRODERVI. LEADER Group.
  • Villuercas -Ibores – Jara Geopark Tourist Companies Association, Geovilluercas.
  • Extremadura Geological Association, AGEX.

All are committed on the objectives and activities decided in the Geopark Council. In addition, they participate in a Steering Committee for the monitoring of the decisions taken by the Council.

The presidency of the Diputación de Cáceres holds the presidency of the Geopark and is supported by a technical structure made up of technical and scientific staff from the associated entities.
